Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Job Summary:
VocoVision is seeking a qualified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to provide virtual interpreting services for K12 students across Colorado public schools . This position is essential in ensuring deaf and hard of hearing students have full and equal access to classroom instruction, communication, and participation in virtual learning environments.
Provide real-time ASL interpretation during online classroom instruction, virtual meetings, and school events.
Interpret spoken communication from teachers and peers into ASL, and voice student responses as appropriate.
Collaborate closely with teachers, special education teams, and school staff to ensure effective communication access for students.
Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality, following the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct .
Attend and contribute to IEP meetings regarding communication accommodations and access needs.
Deliver interpreting services through secure, FERPA-compliant virtual platforms .
Complete required documentation such as service logs, reports, and session notes in accordance with district or agency guidelines.
Required:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
Current Colorado interpreter certification or eligibility to meet state and district standards for educational interpreting.
High school diploma or GED and completion of an interpreter training program.
RID certification or equivalent credential (e.g., EIPA score of 3.5 or higher ).
Proficiency using virtual meeting tools such as Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams.
Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, professional home workspace.
Preferred:
Experience interpreting in Colorado K12 educational settings .
Knowledge of Colorado Department of Education (CDE) special education guidelines .
Bachelors degree in Interpretation, Deaf Studies, Communication, or a related field .
This is a fully remote position . Candidates must have a dedicated, quiet workspace and stable internet connectivity. All interpreting sessions are conducted through secure video conferencing platforms provided by VocoVision.
