Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry/Step Down position requiring strong cardiac and IMC/PCU/Tele experience and current Epic proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes post-op cardiac surgery, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-cath procedures, pacer, defib, ablations, acute chest pain/MI, and med/surg overflow
• Typical patient ratio is 1:4 in a fast-paced, high turnover environment
• Work schedule consists of 12-hour night shifts (7:00 pm – 7:30 am)
• Requires working every other weekend and every other holiday
• Floating to all inpatient units is expected as needed
• No on-call or call back requirements for this position
• Uses Epic EMR, with at least one year of recent experience required
• Duties include caring for post-op cardiac, vascular, and cardiac procedure patients as well as handling med/surg overflow such as detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, and respiratory failure
• Hardworking, resilient candidates who adapt well to change and can work independently are preferred
• Scrub colors are flexible and any color is acceptable
• Travelers should expect low census call during unbillable hours but may receive call back pay if called in
• Orientation week hours may differ from regular schedule
• Candidates must be willing to float as needed
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Certifications required: BLS and ACLS
• Must have a minimum of 1 year strong cardiac experience in Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU settings
• Must have at least 2 years of IMC, PCU, or Telemetry experience
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
• Experience managing Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips is required
• Must be able to pass an EKG test within the first week of hire
• At least 1 year of recent Epic charting experience required
