Job Description
Troubleshoot plant operating condition, production rate, quality of product, yield. Provide training and assistance to meet process requirements. Propose modifications to the existing processes. Lead and support capital projects and process safety projects for installation of new equipment as assigned. Lead plant maintenance programs. Perform training functions such as writing operating/updating procedures and training for the operators. Prepare action plans through direction and team planning with the Plant Manager.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Maintain compliance with safety policies and procedures.
Ø Manage and continuously improve plant equipment maintenance programs, including management of maintenance contractors and spare parts inventory.
Ø Monitor daily the operating plant process conditions for opportunities to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, morale, or environmental impact.
Ø Plan and conduct tests for the purpose of obtaining information useful to increasing production rates and/or improving quality and yield.
Ø Serve as Project Leader for required small to large capital improvement projects or plant expansion projects.
Ø Plan, coordinate and carry out new product/ grades and plant trials as required.
Ø Troubleshoot process and equipment performance.
Ø Lead and/or participate on problem solving teams as requested.
Ø Write operating procedures and conduct training of personnel when needed or requested.
Ø Prepare regular progress reports to the Plant Manager which include comparisons and analysis of production results versus budget targets for his/her area of responsibility.
Ø Perform process safety and environmental management tasks as requested such as updating P&IDs, completing pre-start up safety reviews, updating process safety information records, and participating on HAZOP teams.
Ø Develop and execute process changes, plant trials, safety improvements, and capital projects utilizing the plants Management of Change system.
Ø Maintain complete and open lines of communication with other personnel, functions, or departments to facilitate operations and interaction in the organization.
Ø Keep supervisor informed of status and progress, ensuring that regular and periodic communication takes place.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
v BS Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
v 3+ years’ experience working in a manufacturing plant.
