Mechanical Engineer Opportunity

Teledyne CETAC products and services are used in every industry where rapid and accurate determination of elemental trace levels are required. We are taking applications for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Summary: Responsible for the sustaining engineering and technical support of released products, and the release of new products through a small project team. Sustaining engineering tasks entail product improvements, product cost reductions, and component obsolescence. Technical support tasks include production line support, customer service support, and purchasing support. New product design tasks include research and design engineering for quick turn projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement improvements and cost saving measures for released products.
  • Participate in cross-departmental product line quality team.
  • Support production line mechanical issues.
  • Support customers' mechanical issues.
  • Design, build, validate, and document new product designs and technologies.
  • Transfer new product designs and technologies to production.
  • Research new technologies to solve unique engineering problems.
  • Work with cross functional project teams which include all areas of the business.
  • Apply sound and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.
  • Perform engineering tasks with a high level of professionalism and integrity.

Qualifications:

  • High mechanical aptitude.
  • Proactive mindset with strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
  • Experience with Solidworks or other 3D CAD software.
  • Experience with mechanical systems involving motion.
  • Knowledge of CNC machined part design.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal part design.
  • Knowledge of plastic part design (machined and molded).
  • Capable of researching properties and capabilities of materials and components.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems while applying planning and organizational methods.
  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from colleagues, vendors, and customers.
  • Knowledge of stepper motors and electronic sensors desired.
  • Understanding of simple computer programming desired.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • 2-5 years experience.
  • Other engineering or science degree considered with strong experience in, and emphasis on, electro-mechanical systems.

Travel: Occasional trip to customer site, other Teledyne site, or trade show may be required.
