Job opportunity The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Landscape Gardener in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department. The current vacancy is in the Urban Forestry Unit and will staff the tree planting and young tree care team. The City of Berkeley plants, waters, and establishes up to 1,000 trees each year. This recruitment will also create an eligibility list that may be used to staff the Landscape Maintenance Unit. See the full job class specification here: Minimum Qualifications A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is Equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years experience in landscape maintenance work, similar to that described in the job classification. Possession of an AA degree in horticulture or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience. Other Requirements Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; must be willing to work out of doors in all weather conditions. The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may, without notice, change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate.
