We are seeking a highly skilled Indirect Tax Consultant for a multi-client-facing role. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in state and local taxes (SALT), business income tax, and tax registration compliance. This individual excels at collaborating with leaders of entrepreneurial companies, possesses strong research skills in tax law, and can clearly and effectively convey complex tax concepts to both internal teams and clients. Job Description
The Indirect Tax Consultant will be responsible for preparing SALT nexus studies, preparing and reviewing SALT and registration filings, and supporting the Tax Director with income tax workpaper preparation. This hands-on role involves in-depth tax research and plays a key part in designing, developing, and managing internal processes for indirect tax and business registration compliance workflows. The position will also contribute to creating and delivering training materials and legislative updates on SALT and registration matters to e2E staff and will work closely with the internal teams to update clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)
Primary Responsibilities:
• Manage the SALT and business registration function for all clients. Manage third-party tax and compliance providers when applicable.
• Assist in the development and administration of internal procedures for SALT and registration compliance with e2E staff to ensure internal and regulatory deadlines are met.
• Create templates for client delivery; for example, client proposals, nexus study results.
• Research SALT and registration nexus requirements, work with the client team lead to provide information to the client, and upon client approval, work with the administrative assistant and/or the 3rd party vendor to register clients with applicable state and local jurisdictions.
• Monitor federal, state, and local legislation impacting SALT and registration reporting; recommend updates to practices and procedures, and assist in communicating changes to both clients and staff.
• Develop educational materials and deliver training sessions for clients and staff on legislative updates to ensure understanding of compliance requirements.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with team members collaborating on the same client engagements.
• Participate regularly in client conference calls and meetings.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Proficiency in a range of bookkeeping and tax compliance software applications.
• Experience researching and registering with city, county, and state agencies to maintain client tax and registration compliance.
• Proven ability to prepare SALT returns; experience preparing federal/state income tax workpapers and returns for corporations, S corporations, partnerships, individuals, fiduciaries, and private foundations, a plus.
• Skilled in researching complex tax matters and applying best practices.
• Customer service–oriented, with a commitment to providing accurate, timely information and solutions to staff and clients.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present recommendations and plans to senior leadership and key client stakeholders with professionalism.
• Strong client focus, with a drive to identify needs and deliver actionable solutions.
• Forward-thinking approach, leveraging technology and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, able to manage both strategic initiatives and detailed execution.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines with accuracy and urgency.

• Maintains the highest level of confidentiality when handling sensitive or personal information.
Qualifications
• University degree in the field of accounting, finance, or another similar discipline
• 4+ years of tax preparation experience in a private company or public accounting firm with a focus on SALT compliance and research
• CPA certification a plus
