Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is one of the largest school districts in the United States, serving over 330,000 students in 600+ schools and employing nearly 36,000 people, most of them teachers. CPS has set ambitious goals to ensure that every student, in every school and every neighborhood, has access to a world-class learning experience that prepares each for success in college, career, and civic life. In order to fulfill this mission, we make three commitments to our students, their families, and all Chicagoans: academic progress, financial stability, and integrity. Six core values are embedded within these commitments student-centered, whole child, equity, academic excellence, community partnership, and continuous learning.
The Office of Early College & Career Education (ECCE) provides access and support for rigorous, college-level, hands-on, and career-focused courses; facilitates the design and implementation of high-quality STEM learning environments; and establishes high school-to-employment pipelines that advance students' postsecondary success through earned college credit, professional credentials, and soft skills needed to succeed in college, civic life, and the 21st-century labor market. This includes leading the district's efforts in Career and Technical Education (CTE), early college-including dual credit, dual enrollment, and STEM programming at CPS' 12 Early College STEM and STEAM Schools (ECSS), Computer Science education, and work-based learning. Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Computer Science (CS) programs at Chicago Public Schools (CPS) are part of the department of Early College and Career Education (ECCE) within the Office of Career and College Success (OCCS).
