JOB TITLE : CNC Machinist
LOCATION: Capewell Aerial Systems - South Windsor, CT
REPORTS TO: Production Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: Produces machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine and completing setups for other operators; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; and maintaining equipment and supplies.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Set up and operate the various shop equipment including but not limited to CNC mills and CNC lathes using vises, fixtures, and rotary indexers.
- Understands CNC Programs.
- Work with Programmer to optimize machining times.
- Inspect own work with standard gaging.
- Maintain quality and production standards.
- Make tool adjustments and changes.
- Perform secondary operations as required.
- Maintaining equipment and/or machinery.
- Train other employees as required.
- Assist in helping other operators to maintain production and quality.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures.
- Fill out inspection, work orders and process records.
- Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are required.
- Work toward continual improvement of self and job.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Work cooperatively with other employees to meet department and company goals.
- This position requires personal protective equipment on the shop floor where safety glasses and composite toe safety shoes are required by all.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors or management to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Requirements EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS: - Completion of a precision manufacturing program highly preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in CNC manufacturing required
- Must have experience with CNC Mills
- Experience with HAAS equipment a plus
- Able to work with minimum supervision
- Able to set up and run multiple machines when needed
- Desire to learn new skills
- Must have good basic math skills
- Able to read, write and speak English
- Good interpersonal skills
- Previous independent work environment preferred
- Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Controls and Instrumentation, Tooling, Coordination, Inventory Control, Attention to Detail.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: - The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and sometimes excessive.
- This is a full-time, onsite position.
- The work schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday 6:00AM - 4:30PM with a 30-minute lunch break.
COMPENSATION: The hiring range for this position is $24-$30/hr. This range is an estimate, and the actual hourly rate may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
