The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago are seeking a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. This position is intended for a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who will join the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in a nationally ranked, freestanding children's hospital located on the medical school campus. The successful applicant will bring their focused research expertise to the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Lurie Children's Hospital to support the Department and the Hospital in meeting their strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities of this position include 1: Developing a self-sustaining line of research in child and adolescent psychiatry 2: Teaching and mentoring in multidisciplinary child health and mental health training programs 3: Providing clinical care aligned with their clinical and research expertise as well as sharing in the on-call coverage within the inpatient psychiatry program. This position is expected to be 50% Research and 50% Clinical, which can be negotiated depending on grant activity and funding.
Qualified candidates will have a focused research interest area and a demonstrated history of successful research activity and funding. They will have experience and have excelled in teaching and a commitment to participating in an academic medical center environment. Crisis evaluation and treatment experience (ideally pediatric hospital-based) and board certified or board eligibility in child and adolescent psychiatry is required. Candidates must have an MD or MD/PhD. Fluency in Spanish would be a plus. Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States and licensure in Illinois. Licensure in Illinois and Lurie Children's medical staff membership are required before starting work.
Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time position. Start date immediate after licensure in Illinois. Applications will be evaluated as received. The start date is negotiable, and the position will remain open until filled.
The expected base pay range for this position is $262,000-$340,588
Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
