Job Summary

ELG Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Asset Investigator to join the office of USAO-Eastern District of Michigan. The personnel will be responsible for identifying and recovering assets, enforcing judgments, and analyzing financial data to trace fraudulent transactions and properties. This role requires expertise in financial investigation, asset tracing, and using advanced investigative tools.

Key Responsibilities

· Research and identify potential assets in civil cases, including suggesting avenues for recovery of restitution and fines.

· Provide expert advice and guidance to case agents on financial analysis techniques and tools.

· Advice and guidance may include educating case agents on specific tools and techniques used to obtain and analyze relevant financial information.

· Organize and conduct detailed review of information generated during civil investigations and analyze available assets.

· Review, process, and analyze financial and asset information sufficient to:

  • Assist in determining the likelihood of recovery in civil cases being pursued on behalf of federal agencies.
  • Identify and trace assets during investigations.
  • Assist the Government in perfecting interests in property; and
  • Assist the Government in liquidating a defendant’s interest in property.

· Analyze and process financial records to determine recovery potential and trace hidden or fraudulently conveyed assets.

· Utilize investigative tools and databases, including Choice Point, TECS, FinCEN/BSA Portal, Lexis-Nexis, PACER, WestLaw, and others, to trace and analyze asset ownership.

· Assist in perfecting Government interests in properties and liquidating assets for recovery purposes.

· Prepare detailed reports, summaries, and exhibits for attorneys and provide support during interviews and courtroom proceedings.

· Maintain accurate and detailed case documentation and database records of investigative findings.

· Assist in locating and repatriating assets subject to restitution.

Qualification:

  • Four (4) year undergraduate degree or higher in finance, accounting, or other related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of professional work experience in finance, accounting, or other related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
  • Proficiency in databases that provide specific case support to the Government in civil matters. E.g. Choice Point, Autotrack, TECS, FinCEN/BSA Portal, CLEAR, THREADS, Accurint, ISYS, Lexis- Nexis, PACER, CourtLink, WestLaw, NADA, Used Price.com, etc.
  • Communication skills: Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of staff including AUSAs, support staff, client agencies, debtors, debtor attorneys and their staff, court personnel, business executives, witnesses, and the public. Communication requires tact and diplomacy.
  • - U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain adjudication for the requisite background investigation
  • - Experience and expertise in performing the requisite services in Section 3 Preferred qualifications:
  • - CPA certification
  • - Relevant experience working with a federal or state legal or law enforcement entity

Schedule

  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday. Overtime may be required.

  • Work Location: In-person in Detroit, MI 48226.

  • Security Clearance: A Confidential security clearance is preferred.
